Pisa Range Ski and Splitboard Tour

The Pisa Range offers a high-altitude plateau experience that is entirely unique in the New Zealand backcountry. Situated high above the Wānaka and Cardrona valleys, the Pisas are defined by vast, rolling horizons, dramatic schist 'rock tors', and a climate that often holds some of the most reliable and consistent snowpacks in the Southern Lakes region.

Unlike the jagged, glaciated peaks of the Main Divide, the Pisa Range is a playground of expansive terrain. Its gentle undulations make it the premier destination for those new to backcountry skiing and splitboarding, providing a low-consequence environment to master uphill transitions and navigation. However, for the experienced rider, the range hides a wealth of secret stashes, technical chutes, and playful natural half-pipes carved into the schist gullies.

Reliable High-Altitude Snow: The elevation of the plateau ensures cold, dry snow even when lower elevations are seeing a thaw.

Navigate through a surreal landscape of giant schist formations that offer incredible photo opportunities and unique wind-sheltered stashes.

The Pisas are perfect for ambitious backcountry day trips or multi-day expeditions, utilising the private or public huts or Winter camping.
