Kea Lodge

Adjacent to Wānaka Mountain Guides' base of operations and starting point for trips and courses is Kea Lodge in Albert Town. The Lodge provides comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests before, after or during trips in a modern house. If you need accommodation before or after your trip, please inquire about room options when booking. Twin or double rooms are available with shared or private bathrooms.

Location and Arrival Logistics

Kea Lodge is located at 14 Finch Street in Albert Town, which is a quick 5-minute drive from central Wānaka. There is dedicated off-street parking and allocated luggage storage parameters available safely on site whilst you are away on your trip or course.

Wānaka,  is an easy 1-hour transfer from the nearest international airport in Queenstown. There is a public airport bus three times a day that arrives in central Wanaka. From here, we can arrange a pick-up or taxis to bring you to Kea Lodge. If your arrival into Queenstown does not align with this service, it is possible to arrange a private transfer direct to the door of the Lodge. Let us know if you need any help making these arrangements.

Our trips and courses start at the Wānaka Mountain Guides Base right next door, making it convenient on the first morning.

Lodge Facilities

  • Breakfast provisions: Please help yourself to breakfast during your stay. This includes tea, coffee, muesli, oats, toast, spreads, and milk.
  • Laundry: On-site washing and drying machines are available throughout the duration of your stay.

Local Amenities and Surroundings

From the Lodge, it is an easy 10-minute walk down to the local Albert Town commercial precinct. This hub features a small Four Square grocery store, takeaways, the popular Albert Town Tavern for casual meals/drinks, and the Pembroke Patisserie for fresh morning espresso and baked goods. Venturing slightly further into the Northlake neighbourhood and the Monkey Farm cafe offering drinks, lunches, and full dinners.

Supermarkets and gear: A larger  supermarkets and the regional outdoor retail specialist MT Outdoors is a brief 5-minute drive or a flat 15-minute bike ride towards town, positioned right off Sir Tim Wallace Drive within the Three Parks Commercial Centre.

Walking and biking tracks: Albert Town is surrounded by walking tracks, looping up over the scenic viewpoint of Mount Iron and along the margins of the Clutha  and Cardrona Rivers. Local biking tracks include the Outlet Track, Upper Clutha, and Deans Bank single-tracks.

Checking Out

  • Departure: At the conclusion of your stay, please vacate your room by 10:00 am.
  • Storage: If you need to safely store luggage whilst away on a trip or course, please bring those items into the main gear room before departure.
